Posted by The police command for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has stated that the explosion that occurred on Friday in the area of the Gwagwa-Karmo road in the nation’s capital was caused by a malfunctioning tanker that was transporting liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
When the residents of the region heard the huge explosion, they were initially filled with fear because the cause of the blast could not be determined right away.
SP Josephine Adeh, who is the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, made the explanation in a statement that was released on Friday. She added that the tanker developed a mechanical defect about the time that it was near the Gwagwa primary school.
According to what she stated, “while efforts were being made to fix the fault, there was a spark which resulted in an explosion, setting the tanker ablaze.”
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on the other hand, stated that there was no loss of life as a result of the incident and that the situation was under control.
The statement continued, “In the meantime, additional investigation into the immediate and remote cause of the explosion has begun, and members of the public are urged to disregard any contrary narrative from any quarters and go about their lawful duties without fear of any kind.”
