N3bn Claim My Suspension, Planned – Treasurer of the Labour Party

Accusations that the national chairman, Abure, embezzled more than N3 billion from the N3.5 billion collected for the 2023 campaigns led to the suspension of the Labour Party’s national treasurer, Mrs. Oluchi Opara. Opara said that the party’s decision to punish her was deliberate and in violation of party regulations.

Opara made these remarks in response to the six-month suspension imposed on her by the national leadership of the Labour Party (LP) following her Monday accusation that Abure had wasted N3 billion of the 3.5 billion Naira collected for the 2023 campaigns.

Yesterday, the party’s top brass denied that any of their accounts had received the N3.5 billion intended for the campaign.

During a press conference held at the party headquarters, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, the national publicity secretary, announced that the national treasurer will be tried by a disciplinary committee about her accusations.

The Labour Party’s leadership has established a disciplinary committee to investigate allegations that National Treasurer Oluchi Opara has discredited the party and misled the public about party business in violation of party regulations, following an emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee.

During the meeting that took place on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Abuja, and was chaired by Mrs. Ladi Iliya, the Deputy National Chairman, the party invited the National Treasurer to appear before it on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 10 am, at the Party National Headquarters’ Conference Hall.
