Obi stated in an article that was published on Wednesday by The Economist, a British newspaper, that he represents the majority of people who want a better country.
According to the former governor of Anambra, a number of factors, including terrorism, the decline of the health and education sectors, the deteriorating economy, and crude oil theft, have prompted citizens to demand better leaders.
While security agencies “appeared hapless,” Obi recalled militia attacks, kidnappings, and extrajudicial killings that shook the nation in recent years.
He reminded the general public that universities were closed for eight months in 2022 as a result of a dispute between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over promises that had been made for decades.
The flagbearer lamented the country’s drop in crude oil revenue from a steady monthly average of $3 billion in 2014 to nothing last year due to an increase in oil theft.
Obi reiterated his belief that Nigeria has the potential to become a world power through effective governance and manpower utilization, highlighting the connection between the state of the nation and the quality of its leadership.
According to Obi, Nigeria needs to learn from the enthusiasm and commitment of its young people on the streets, who are taking back their country because they are sick of the status quo in leadership.
“Across all demographics, the prevalent belief is that the Nigerian government is not for the people. However, the majority of politicians vying for office this year are key members of this rejected establishment,” He stated.
The youths who have “taken the mantle and led the charge for enthroning a reliable government” in the world’s most populous black nation were also praised by the former bank chief.
