Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has revealed that when they were 15th in the Premier League table, manager Mikel Arteta persuaded him to join the Emirates club.

In January 2021, Odegaard signed a loan agreement with Arsenal from Real Madrid. The following summer, the Gunners made the deal permanent for £30 million plus bonuses.
Since joining Arsenal from Los Blancos, the Norway international, who was named captain on a permanent basis last summer, has been a major contributor to the club’s success.

Odegaard wrote in The Players’ Tribune, “I spoke to Mikel Arteta on a Zoom call and he told me everything about the project.”
Arsenal was not doing well at the time. They had fallen to 15th place in the Premier League table, but that meeting… In all honesty, I challenge anyone to not believe everything Arteta says.
