Mr. Ademola Adesola, a member of the staff at Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, collapsed and passed away while waiting in a bank inside the school to withdraw N5,000 worth of new notes.
Mr. Jeariogbe Olaniyi, the university’s Head of the Publicity and Public Relations Unit, told the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, that the Grade 13 officer drove himself to the school in the morning.
Mr. Olaniyi claims that the deceased left the office at around 11.30 a.m. to go to the bank to get money from his account. He fell to the ground and passed away while waiting.
He claimed that the deceased had only been waiting for about 30 minutes when he suddenly collapsed and was unable to be revived.
According to Olaniyi, he was rushed to the university clinic for treatment, but no efforts were made to revive him.
He stated that while Mr. Adesola’s death is heartbreaking, the university would like to make it clear that the deceased was not one of its deputy bursars.
According to him, Mr. Adesola began working for the university in 1986 as a typist and advanced to Grade Level 13 as Chief Executive Officer (Account).
