Tems is the first Nigerian woman to win a Grammy Award for her music

The song “Wait for U” by Future, Drake, and Tems won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

The song from 2022 beat out songs by Jack Harlow (“First Class”), Kendrick Lamar (“Die Hard”), Latto (“Big Energy (Live)”), and DJ Khaled (“Beautiful”), among others.

Future has two nominations in this category (for “Wait for U” and “Pushin’ P”), and his album “I Never Liked You” is also up for Best Rap Album. Tems’ work on Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” is also up for Album of the Year.

Tems is also the first Nigerian woman to win a Grammy for her music.
