The number of Permanent Voter Cards obtained by states has been made public by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
87,209,007 permanent voter cards (PVC) have been collected nationwide thus far, as stated by INEC. During a press conference held on Thursday at the national collation center in Abuja, INEC chairperson Mahmood Yakubu made the announcement.
The PVC collection campaign in all LGAs was initially scheduled to run from December 12 to January 22 by the commission. The deadline was then extended until January 29 and then again until February 5. Yakubu stated at the briefing that although the commission is pleased with the higher rate of collection than in previous years, many PVCs remain uncollected.
93.3 percent of Nigeria’s 93,469,008 registered voters have collected their PVCs, according to data provided to journalists. However, 6,259,229 cards, or 6.7% of PVCs, have not been collected.
According to the data, Lagos has collected the most PVCs, 6,214,970, followed by Kano, 5,594,193, and Kaduna, 4,164,473. In contrast, Lagos has the highest number of uncollected PVCs, with 845,225, followed by Oyo with 515,254 and Ogun with 410,281.
