Workers Disengaged by Illegal Employment: Osun State Government
The state administration has declared that those who were illegitimately engaged by former governor Gboyega Oyetola are no longer employed by the state and that no amount of extortion will change this fact.
In response to a pocket of protests by All Progressives Congress (APC) members who were employed toward the end of the previous administration, the State Government noted in a statement by Mr. Tunde Busari, Special Assistant, Community Communications to Governor Ademola Adeleke, that Mr. Oyetola purposefully padded the state payroll with APC members to set the stage for a deeper financial crisis, conflict, and discord.
“Those protesting are APC members that previous Governor Oyetola snuck onto the state payroll. Those who were hired illegally remain fired and are no longer employees of the state government as a result of the Executive Order Mr. Governor issued. No amount of protesting or extortion will alter that fact.
“We know the specifics of APC’s plan to use its disengaged members as demonstrators. The people of Osun state are aware of the entire scenario, particularly the several warnings issued by the PDP while it was in opposition. In those final days, when the former governor was issuing employment letters despite the State’s incapacity to pay staff salaries, we issued a warning against working with Mr. Oyetola.
“Those APC members are currently acting out the part. They have been ineffective from the start because this administration will not give in to unreasonable demands from those who helped to make Osun’s financial problems worse, according to the statement.
