Suspended Dean of Law replaced by UNICAL amid allegations of sexual harassment

Dr. Rose Ugbe has been appointed as the Acting Dean, Faculty of Law, by Prof. Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar.

According to a statement from Mr. Gabriel Egbe, the university’s registrar, Ugbe will take the place of Prof. Cyril Ndifon, a former dean who was suspended last week over claims of being arrogant.

Among other anomalies, Egbe is explicitly accused of acting inappropriately toward female students.

According to NAN, a seven-person commission had already been formed to investigate the claims.

According to the announcement, Ugbe’s position began on Tuesday, August 22, and would last until a permanent dean of the faculty was chosen.

Ugbe would assume the duties and responsibilities of the position and be in charge of the faculty’s academic programs.

Additionally, she would promote positive interactions between faculty and students.
